Whiteflies can be hard to spot because they hang out on the undersides of leaves. Sometimes, it is not until there is visible damage to the plant that these creatures are spotted. If you notice that the leaves in your ornamental plants have turned yellow and spotted or leaves have begun to drop off of your plants prematurely, whiteflies may be to blame. These pests puncture the underside of leaves and suck the vital fluids from the plants leaving the leaves looking lifeless. To test for whiteflies, simply shake the tree or plant and wait to see if a swarm of whiteflies emerges.
Among the most common types of whiteflies are:
Silverleaf
Greenhouse
Banded Winged
Ficus
Citrus
